Still too early to judge how good this team will be; but the trends are favorable.
Against St. Michaels, Reggie Jackson scores 23, Cory Raji tosses in 19, and Rakim Sanders follows with 13 in a 40+ pt. blowout, 99-58. Jackson's for real.
Cory Raji's 14 rebounds was a good sign, and Joe Trapani chipped in on the boards as well.
Dartmouth promises to be a bit tougher, but I don't think the Eagles will fall into any Harvard-style trap at this point. Look for them to win by at least 20. Friday the thirteenth will be a lucky day for BC. It's Dartmouth's first game of the year, and the Conte Forum crowd will be ready!

BC Eagles hoop November 8 (Sunday) at Conte Forum against St. Michael's of Vermont. Admission is free. Here are some exhibition notes from the Eagles' website. From this article, some interesting developments: "The 2009-10 Eagles feature one fresh face. Sophomore Peter Rehnquist joined the team as a walk-on during preseason workouts. Rehnquist, who hails from Sharon, Mass., earned All-Hockomock League honors as senior at Sharon High School in 2006-07. He spent the 2007-08 academic year as a postgraduate student at Deerfield Academy."I have a sentimental streak for walkons. I really hope Rehnquist will make it! I'll be very interested to see how this backcourt with Elmore and Jackson will do now that Tyrese Rice is graduated. Get psyched!! Go BC!!

Things seem to be pretty quiet up at Chestnut Hill. Anyone have any info how the players have been practicing over the summer or any new recruiting news? Heard Ravenel has improved quite a bit this summer.

On Thursday night, BC plays Virginia in the first round of the ACC tournament at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. BC is seeded 6th, and Virginia 11th. Some important things to remember here:
1. Neutral court in a hostile environment. The Georgia Dome will have plenty of mid-Atlantic representation, as opposed to BC. This could be a disadvantage for the Eagles;
2. Virginia is 6-2 all-time against BC in the ACC.
3. BC beat UVA in Charlottesville earlier in the season, 80-70. Virginia is beatable; but the Eagles can't get too comfy before this game;
4. At the end of February, UVA lost to Wake Forest, but gave the Demon Deacons everything they could handle with a zone defense, which Clemson used to devastating effect against the Eagles earlier in the season - neutralizing Tyrese Rice from the outside - and with no one scoring in the paint. If UVA decides to break that out, you're going to need Joe Trapani and Rakim Sanders going inside and hard to the basket. That's how Wake solved it against the Cavaliers.
5. BC plays in the same bracket as Maryland, NC State and Virginia, with first-round bye teams Wake Forest and Duke. Should BC win against UVA, they have Duke in the next round. On a neutral court, that should be intersting ...
